Statement
I am a risk taker and adventurer at heart, and I experience that thrill through painting. As I paint, each piece becomes an
expression of my thirst to go beyond status quo, pushing myself, the paint, and the content of my work to become a tangible
experience for the viewer to interact with. I use my imagination and the world that I see around me as my starting point.
My painting style incorporates oil paint applied in a bold impressionistic manner utilizing the palette knife. I am drawn to the
different personalities the painting takes on as the light moves across it's faceted surface throughout the day.
Each piece I create is about the being “in the moment”, about mixing the emotions that inspire me with that which is seen. My
goal is to take the familiar and expand it's color and energy to it's fullest potential.

My husband and I are the lucky owners of Scott R Anderson's painting "The Watcher". The vibrancy of the
colors and the power of the palette knife strokes in his painting exude energy beyond the subject matter.
We spotted 'The Watcher' through the window of the art gallery before the gallery opened. Without
admitting to one another, we loitered around the town until the gallery opened. Once the door of the gallery
opened, the beauty of the painting was enhanced when we could see the energy of your palette knife
strokes. I was enamored. I told whoever would listen about the amazing painting I had seen in a little gallery
in Half Moon Bay. Words could not do it justice.
Unbeknownst to me, my dear husband had contacted the gallery and very frivolously purchased your painting
as a surprise for our anniversary. (It had been 40 years since we had our first date as teenagers.) My husband
had it delivered to his office and single handedly mounted it above our fireplace while I was away.
Your painting is now 'The Watcher' of our entire family. It is well loved and it is keeping us all healthy in
mind, spirit and body.

On a day trip from our daughter’s home in San Francisco, California, we ventured into The Coastside Gallery
in Half Moon Bay and were immediately attracted to Scott’s paintings. Our favorite, “Evenings Colors,” was
the only one without pricing information because, as the gallery owner explained, someone was interested in
purchasing it. We loved the mood, the subtle colors, the composition and, of course, the textures created by
the palette knife. When we returned to Virginia, we contacted the gallery and learned to our great delight
that “Evenings Colors” could be ours. It now hangs prominently in our family room where we enjoy it in
natural as well as artificial light.

Scott Anderson has been creating art all of his life. He studied art abroad in Italy and graduated from the Art Center College of
Design of Pasadena. After creating virtual worlds for the video game industry he returned to doing what he loves, making art.
Scott’s art has been accepted into juried art shows and his work is currently on display in several galleries in Northern California.
He has a growing list of private collectors.
